A group of local folk raising money to help people in trouble around the world. Usually, there will be a direct connection with someone in Lochwinnoch. There are quite a few local people involved in helping other peoples in need. Normally the money goes straight to an identified project.

Lochwinnoch Fairtrade Village Campaign

A plan to get Lochwinnoch registered as a Fairtrade Village
by getting a certain number of shops, businesses, organisation to commit to offering fairtrade products we can see Lochwinnoch awarded Fairtrade Village status. Bishopton has already gained this recoignitiion and Paisley is a Fairtrade town. There are plans to make Renfrewshire a Fairtrade County.

Part of the project involves the setting up of a Fairtrade group in Lochwinnoch.

  1. The local council passes a resolution supporting Fairtrade. (on 8th November Renfrewshire Council approved a report dealing with Renfrewshire becomng a Fairtrade area. The Council agrees to serve Fairtrade tea and coffee at its meetings and in offices and canteens.
  2. A range of (at least two) Fairtrade products is readily available in the areas shops, cafes and catering establishments.
  3. Fairtrade products are used by a number of local workplaces and community organisations.
  4. Attract media coverage and popular support for the campaign.
  5. Convene a Fairtrade Steering group to ensure continued commitment to the fairtrade principles.
