Lochwinnoch Community Garden
The Community Garden is situated at the back of the Parish Church. It’s a sustainable garden project with the objective of spreading the word about sustainable gardens and educating people about sustainable gardening techniques. It’s aimed at all age groups (the local Primary school will be involved) and is the only one in Renfrewshire and one of a very few in the whole of Scotland. It’s also, most crucially of all, for the community of Lochwinnoch.
Question: WHO RUNS THE PROJECT?
Answer: A local independent community management team, not the Parish Church, LMEG or even Renfrewshire Council, though all of these groups are involved. The money for the garden came from ENTRUST (ie. Landfill Tax).

Question:
WHAT WILL I FIND THERE?
Answer: As well as attractive flowers and a pond there are composting facilities which use worms (yes worms!) and you will also find an impressive (huge!) 40ft Poly tunnel – ideal for potting up plants and gardening demonstrations.

gardenQuestion: WHEN CAN I SEE IT?
Answer: The garden is open every day of the week for visitors from early morning till dusk. Just open the gate and go in!! Wednesday night is also the starters night for new participants and, unless the weather is really awful, someone who’s been there a little longer will be on hand to show you around and discuss how you might be able to get involved.

Question: WHO CAN I CONTACT ABOUT HELPING OUT OR FOR MORE INFORMATION?
Answer: If you want to talk to anyone about it before coming down or want to do work other than on a Wednesday night then call

Gordon Nicholl on (01505) 842632

or send an email to anne.nicholl@btopenworld.com.
